President Ruto Launches SHA 922 Emergency Lifeline
President William Ruto has officially launched the Social Health Authority (SHA) 922 Lifeline and the National Ambulance Dispatch Centre in Nairobi.
According to the President, the service is designed to ensure that no Kenyan is denied emergency medical treatment, in line with Article 43(2) of the Constitution.
Ambulance evacuation and the first 24 hours of emergency treatment will be paid for by the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund at approved tariffs. This protection applies to all Kenyans — whether registered with SHA or not, and whether or not they have paid for SHA cover.
Calls to the 922 emergency number will be free across every network and accessible even without airtime.
The President stated that from today, whenever a Kenyan faces a medical emergency, the first question will never be whether they can pay. The first duty will be to save life.
Already, 1,243 ambulance and emergency service providers have been contracted by SHA to support the coordinated national emergency medical service.
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
