SHA Moves Facilities to New Digital System
The Social Health Authority (SHA) is shutting down its old provider portal as the government pushes all contracted health facilities to migrate to the new Health Management Information System (HMIS).
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale confirmed the transition, stating that the old portal would be switched off and facilities must now operate on HMIS.
All public Level 2, 3 and 4 facilities have already completed the move. However, larger public hospitals (Level 5 and 6), private facilities and faith-based organisations were given additional time after many had not finished the transition.
The government has granted a one-month extension for these remaining facilities to complete the switch, with a new deadline of 30th October 2026.
At the same time, SHA has extended the deadline for healthcare providers to renew their contracts for the 2026–2029 cycle to 14th October 2026.
Facilities that fail to complete the new contracts or migrate to HMIS risk being locked out of serving SHA patients.
The move is part of efforts to fully digitise healthcare services, improve claims processing and reduce fraud.
Questions on the ground:
How prepared are health facilities in Likuyani and Kakamega for the new system?
Will the transition cause delays in patient services?
Are local hospitals already on HMIS?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
