Protest in Kongoni Ward as Lumala and Bramwel Stand with Residents
Kongoni Ward MCA aspirant Lumala and Bramwel Mulunda (who works in the MP’s office) today joined residents of Makokha Market in a peaceful protest.
The residents were raising concerns and calling for fair and equal treatment from security agencies and local leadership.
In a statement, Lumala said they later addressed residents of Kongoni, Nangili Market and Makokha Market, reaffirming their commitment to justice, peace, fairness and equal treatment for all.
He called on security agencies, led by the DCC, to uphold equity, fairness and integrity when handling issues affecting the people, regardless of political status or affiliation.
The protest comes against the backdrop of persistent political rivalry and reported goon-related violence in Kongoni Ward between supporters linked to the current MCA, Robert Kundu Makhanu, and those aligned to the area MP. Residents have repeatedly described the situation as unsustainable.
Questions on the ground:
Will security agencies act impartially in Kongoni Ward?
How long will the cycle of political goons continue before lasting calm is restored?
Can the ward move beyond “goons vs gooniology” politics ahead of 2027?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
