Tarancha Faces Backlash for Weaponising Private Message
Likuyani MP aspirant Dr. Evans Tarancha is under fire after an old private message from political blogger Masafu was circulated to publicly mock him.
The message, in which Masafu requested assistance and claimed he was going hungry, was sent at a time when he was still supporting Tarancha. After Masafu later switched his support to the current MP, Innocent Mugabe, the private chat was dug up and shared by Tarancha’s communication team.
Residents have described the move as petty and vindictive. Many are questioning why someone seeking to lead Likuyani would allow — or fail to stop — the public exposure of a past personal plea for help simply because the sender changed political camps.
Instead of rising above political disagreements, the circulation of the private message has left a section of residents asking whether this reflects the kind of leadership Tarancha would offer if elected.
