“Where is Your Voice?” – Blogger Sambai Challenges MP Mugabe Over Student Bus Attack, MP Issues Statement.
Likuyani – Likuyani blogger Charles Sambai has put Likuyani MP Hon. Innocent Maino Mugabe on the spot over his initial silence following the attack on students from Friends Binyenya Secondary School.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Sambai wrote:
“Hon. Innocent Mugabe, where is your voice? Students from Friends Binyenya Secondary School were reportedly attacked by goons while returning from a Music Festival in Mumias. These are our children… Yet many residents are asking: where is the voice of their elected representative? This is abandonment of the people. Likuyani is watching.”
Later, MP Mugabe issued an official statement condemning the incident. He clarified that the students were from St. Joseph’s Nyorotis Secondary School and were travelling in the Friends Binyenya bus when they were attacked on Saturday, June 13, 2026, apparently mistaken for political rally supporters.
In his statement, Mugabe said:
“I strongly condemn the attack… I call upon the National Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that all those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice. I will also seek a statement from the Ministry of Interior in the National Assembly… Political differences should never be used as a justification for attacking innocent citizens.”
Questions on the ground:
Why did it take public pressure from a blogger for the MP to issue a statement?
Will the perpetrators be arrested and charged swiftly?
How safe are our students during school activities amid rising political tensions?
The incident has left many parents and residents concerned about the safety of children during this political season.
Likuyani Digest will continue monitoring the investigation and updates on this matter.
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
