Barasa Hits Elsie Muhanda: “Ako Chini, Hawezani na Mimi”
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has strongly attacked Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, accusing her of misleading residents by claiming credit for road projects.
Speaking publicly, Barasa said he has seen Muhanda standing by the roadside in Shinyalu and Butere claiming she has brought roads, yet she has no budget for road construction.
“Tuko na mama hapa ambaye anatembea akitafuta kura. Nimeona juzi amesimama pale kwa barabara Shinyalu ati ameleta barabara, nimemwona kule Butere ati anatengeneza barabara. Huyo ako na budget ya barabara kweli?” Barasa asked.
He went further and mocked her development approach, saying her work is limited to buying sufurias, distributing “manyinya” and bringing water tanks that have no water.
“Nataka kuambia huyo mama, ikifika 2027 kila mtu anakuja anasimama kwa kazi yake. Yeye kazi yake ni kununua sufuria, kuleta manyinya na kuleta matanki ambayo haina maji. Huyo mama ako chini, hawezani na mimi,” the Governor said.
Barasa also defended the CYSWEP youth, dismissing Muhanda’s claims that they are goons. He accused her of failing to employ young people while labelling those working with the county as goons.
The exchange adds to the growing political tension in Kakamega as leaders begin drawing clear battle lines ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Questions on the ground:
Does Elsie Muhanda have any road projects under her docket?
Is Barasa’s attack a sign of worsening relations between the two leaders?
How will residents judge their development records come 2027?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
